Comiconference, page 1
on April 12, 2013 at 12:01 amThis was the comic-book-only story from Roomies! #5. I believe it was the last published issue, though I had the story from the next issue already drawn by the time I realized the series was kaput. And who could have foreseen.
This issue hit around the time Attack of the Clones was a thing, as you can tell from the cover.
Oooof, I am gonna have to miss the last two pages, I know how this ends somehow…
Oh boy, I can’t wait for the comic shenanigans of Howard sexually assaulting a woman!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, this story kinda sucks ass.
Oh, um… spoilers.
This can only end well.
Jesus, imagine if this comic was written last year. That last Howard line…
With Goofergob between me and this comment in time, I’m only even more struck by this.
Ah, 1998. A time when having Kate Mulgrew, Jane Seymour, and Kevin Smith at your convention meant that it was the best around instead of the one that was made fun of for not being able to get a decent anime voice actor or webcomic artist.
This is gonna be a pleasant day, I can feel it!
Woah, this is set in the It’s Walky! archives in the middle of the final battle with JFO (2004, May, 23 to 30), so I always thought it was a flashback set up to show how much Billie has changed. And you’re telling me that this story was written completely separately?
yup
Ruth looks like she’s wearing safety goggles.
Must not catch cooties!
“Comiconference”? Was Comicon a registered trademark or something?
You tell me!: http://www.comic-con.org/
Oh, herp. I defend myself with the fact that I’ve never been to it, or seen many ads for it.
Yes! I’ve been waiting for this story this whole time! For some reason I always liked it a lot.
Captain Howard, is not immune to critisism.
Also, the Roomies! cover over there…man, I dunno, I sort of like the style of late It’s Walky. That style carried over into Shortpacked!, which gradually morphed into something different as it became the modern style which has carried on into Dumbing of Age, but sometimes I see the post-Roomies, pre-Shortpacked style and I get all sorts of nostalgic.
(‘Nostalgic’ isn’t the right word, since I only read It’s Walky a few months ago, but still.)
I always liked the way clothes were drawn in It’s Walky, though. A space between stylized and realistic.
Haha, should we fanrage because he’s cosplaying Star Wars on the cover but Star Trek in the story?
Nahh we’ll fanrage over how he should still have the blue lightsaber (not the green one) while having that outfit
At least Not-Quite-So-Young Willis had figured out that it’s not “Long live the Federation”.
“I’ll live” – Ruth
She will. As long as no one at the on gets drunk and drives and she doesn’t try to run interference. XD
“Nope” – Willis
“lol spoilers” – Everybody
Am I the only one who thinks that Ruth right now looks like UltraCar in Shortpacked right now?
If I hadn’t seen the cover in the comments section I would have gone through this entire thing thinking Howard and Ruth were blond.
I cannot be the only one to have misread that first speech bubble as “Hey, Homie”
