Backwards?
on January 23, 2017 at 12:01 amYeah, the Martian resurrection process mirrors you left-to-right. On Head Alien, it’s more obvious than with most humans, since he’s asymmetrical — his claw is now on his left instead of his right. This is when readers started calling him Dexter, as he was now right-handed.
Ahh, looks like 2 strips were posted and are not in the correct order, pretty weird.
yeah, huh? I thought I missed something when i hit back =o
Huh, that is weird. For a moment there I thought I had missed an update somehow.
I thought the strips being out of order is what Dexter was talking about when he said, “Backwards?”
*snrk*
Yeah, I was one of the supporters of the “Dexter” moniker. I think a couple of us came up with it independently, proving strange minds think alike.
I don’t get it, is it a play on dexterous or dexterity or something?
It means “right,” as sinister means “left.”

Previously, of course, he was Sinister.
So right handed humans end up left handed ?
Correct! I don’t remember where that comes up, but it does.
So if someone went through the resurrection machine a second time, would they get swapped back to normal?
probably
Now I’m picturing Head Alien throwing a fit over his misplaced claw hand and killing himself to do it over.
I like just how fucked up this gets him.
Oh, so the Dexter thing in DoA was inspired by something in real life. I didn’t know that.
Oh
Ohhhhhhh
I wonder if things like brain structure would also get mirrored, and how that would play havoc with how the resurrectee perceives the world. For example, if your eyes and visual processing were mirrored, wouldn’t that cause you to see the rest of the world as mirrored instead of just your own body?
I wonder if molecular chirality would be reversed. Probably not, as that would lead to swift death by starvation.
