If I wrote this today, Robin’s line would totally have been, instead, “screw THAT shiz.” That’s a lotta swears for a Robin. I mean, she CAN swear, but she’s no Billie or Amber.
Yeah, IW-era Robin’s characterization does seem a little off. I don’t think her character really gels until the beginning of Shortpacked. Once you decided that she’s a self-absorbed asshole it really all came together.
I don’t mind this change since I know what’s coming up and why it changes her. She became a whole new person after IW! and stopped swearing for a good reason…it happens to a lot of people involved in traumatic events like she is about to go through
To be fair, I think anyone would break their usual swearing habits when faced with an existential threat they’re expected to be the only line of defense against.

(sorry, robin, love ya but it’s true)
You cut me to the quick, good Sporky.
She might be a self-absorbed asshole in Shortpacked, but she’s still better than the DoA version of Robin.

There is no good reason to stop swearing. Fuck that shit.
It totes says “Screw that shiz!” …with a really sideways z
I am amused that Joyce would “rather go fuck around” than fight martians. Mostly because Joyce generally has difficulties with the word fuck.
I mean, Martians are scary. And, well… Things happen, is the thing.
Yeah, but she has desperately been trying to get laid.
Joyce can thank Linda for having to fight the martians. After all, she’s the one who killed the martians at the Embassy.
I thought it was established that that wasn’t Linda, but Jason’s father’s group? They just framed Linda.
Can someone recommend me a song that fits this uneasy, anxious, vibe so i can play it in my head as this story progresses?
ISTR a pretty good mashup of the Martian invasion with “99 Luftballons” back when this first ran.
If only you hadn’t snuck on board that ship, Robin.
