Showering

At some point I must have learned fifteenth-hand that showers were a thing you take after you engage in the dangle-schlomp. Look at my attempt at realism!
For an alternate take, maybe Mary is not known for taking showers, and so this is suspicious activity regardless? I guess she IS an art major.
Why are you going to sleep directly after taking a shower? ANSWER ME THAT, MR. GREEN LANTERN!
It’s not uncommon, actually. Some folks just prefer to take showers at the end of the day. For me, though, that’s pretty pointless, since I do most of my sweating while unconscious.
My old roommate showered at night. I’ve done it only when I was in New England for a month, but that was because the days were too jam-packed and too cold to shower in the morning. I don’t do it normally, though. Just feels…off to me.
I often shower in the evening, but (if you have long hair) you have to let your hair dry (or blowdry it) before you go to sleep or it will give you a neck ache.
I have no idea why, but I have experienced this several times.
I’ve never gotten neck aches, but my hair gets totally unmanageable if I sleep on it before it dries.
Interesting. One of the reasons I shower before bed is that I have long hair, and if I can drape it over a towel and sleep while it’s drying, I don’t have to deal with having wet hair all over the place for hours. I’ve never gotten a neckache from it. I know lots of other long-haired people who also prefer to sleep with wet hair. I wonder why our experiences are so different.
Do you sleep on your back or on your side? I sleep on my side (if I sleep on my back, I snore like a chainsaw, which is rather unladylike), as does the other long-haired person I know who has experienced this.
Because of that – and because I tend to turn over to sleep on one side then the other throughout the night – my hair ends up bunched up around my neck rather than spread out behind me. That might be the difference? Honestly, I have no real idea.
Showering at night before bed can be relaxing and I’ll do it now and again after a rough day. But I’m super sweaty at night, too, so it doesn’t do much for cleanliness. I also usually have long hair, and showering is pretty much integral to not having an oily rats’ nest during the day.
Maybe I’m an oddball here (a fairly common occurrence), but I shower both before bed and after getting up before work most days. Mind you I work in a restaurant kitchen so there is oft more on me than just sweat when I come home, and I just feel nasty and sticky all day if I don’t shower when I get up. That said, like someone said upthread my “before bed” is typically an hour or two before bed not immediately.
*Waves hand* Hi! I shower at night time. Particularly useful habit when, say, you have to change pads before going to bed, like Mary might have to.
I shower at the end of the day. I find it works to go to sleep not covered in dirt. Also, it makes it easier to just get up and leave if I end up oversleeping.
I shower at night as well. Makes it easier to go to sleep imo
Just to make it clear, I’m not objecting to the showering at night, that’s something I do too. I just don’t go to bed seconds after finishing. Gets my bedsheets wet.
I shower at night! 1. I hate sleeping in gunk I picked up from the day [a must if you’ve done anything particularly gross], 2. in winter, it’s often the best way to warm up, and 3. I take FOREVER, so it gives me more sleep-in time than doing it in the morning.
I don’t go STRAIGHT to bed, though, unless I have a hairdryer and am patient enough to stand there for AN HOUR… something people I know who’ve never had hair longer than 2″ don’t understand.
My husband does the whole shower at night thing. He sleeps better when he feels clean or so he says; I don’t understand the point of night showers since my hair gets so messed up while I sleep, even when I keep it in a braid.
“maybe Mary is not known for taking showers”…
I see you, Willis. I see you. http://www.dumbingofage.com/2013/comic/book-3/01-if-the-shoes-split/pie/
haha, the blatant sex idol not known for showering
I like how Mary showering is more of a tip-off to Danny than Billie’s testimony.
I just don’t get the urgency of all of this past few days hulabaloo. Maybe I was just weird, but I really didn’t get all THIS involved in friend or aquaintances’ love lives. [yes I had a close friend and we talked, a lot, about it. Teens do that]. But……
So, Billie saw Mary having sex. Tramatizing. but not the end of world, they don’t even like each other.
So Mary knows that Billie knows, so in order to keep it a secret, she goes running to Danny to tell him Billy is dead drunk quick go get her.
Which insures that Danny will go get Billie, who will then tell Danny that Mary had SeX.
And then Danny will go BACK to Mary and what??? accuse her of having Sex. Like it is any of his business? [even if she is a pita and he just want’s to rub her holy-than-thou nose in it]. Still, none of his business.
Because lots of THOSE types of people get off on being superior, and you can’t do that if there’s mud on your face.
The only good danny action I can see is ‘stop trying to frame Billie for whatever stupid reason you have’
So what tears this fandom apart will not be about the comic strip, but whether we shower in the day or at night.
Called it.
And, uh, “dangle-schlomp”? Is that what you call rumpy-pumpy?
(We’re both making up words now, right?)
