Something I’m only really noticing now that I’m reading this day-by-day is that every page set in this universe actually does end on a joke, although they’re increasingly less “funny” and more “unnerving.”
Admittedly, Leslie saying Walkyverse Amber could defeat Blaine is a smidge less impressive when we’ve seen another Amber who actually did beat him— twice— but I suppose her point still stands.
Also, Blaine in the Walkyverse was less of a supervillain.
I wonder if that’s a deliberate bit of irony. That two of the more mundane Walkyverse characters got to be the wacky and out there part of Dumbing of Age.
“Dumbing of Age is a world where Amber can do that but Walky can’t,” as Willis put it (or at least very similarly) when Amber was parkouring away from him and Dorothy.
Violence as humor usually works with me. I remember Ninja Rick killed some guy and hid the body years ago, and it was an occasion where it didn’t work. Never found the guy that funny after that. Felt too real, maybe?
It really does say a lot about how much UC loves Joe that she’d leave a universe seemingly custom-made for her (sixteen Short Circuits, Pie-Throwing Comedy God) because it doesn’t have her dad.
It’s only funny until someone gets hurt
then it’s HILARIOUS

I’m pretty sure that’ll stop eventually, but right now the Drama Tag’s still untouchable and comedy is undisputed (robot car) queen.

Ninja Rick could NOT hit Leslie . . . until she gave him permission by claiming he couldn’t. Oof.Jinxed yourself there, girlfriend!

Leslie, tempting fate makes it (potentially) funny.
Wait, does this means Ninja Rick also killed someone in this world?
So funny, it hurts.
Fortunately, getting hit with Ninja Rick’s sword doesn’t result in Leslie losing an arm. So at least it’s all not major life-altering injuries yet.
