Be careful, okay?
on July 8, 2014 at 12:01 amI really love my bookend conclusions, don’t I. Well, it works! Not the worst last strip, huh?
Tomorrow we start running It’s Walky! strips. It will be the redrawn versions. Not only because that’s the way the poll went, but as soon as my wife found out that finishing the redrawn strips was even an option she told me that if I finish redrawing them I would be, uh, rewarded. Amply. The thought of New It’s Walky! Material does things to her, you see. You see my situation.
I know the old strips aren’t anywhere on the net, and so I’ll be putting them up on this site, too, but probably in chunks in the newspost area. There isn’t really a 1:1 correlation between most of the new and old versions, so inlining them as we go along wouldn’t be a great idea. But you’ll get to see ’em, regardless.
See you tomorrow in another webcomic.
I was in another webcomic, a webcomic of twenty thousand girls, and milk, and rectangles…
Good job Willis is running the redrawn strips, so we won’t have to go to an optometrist…
A frontier optometrist?
THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN EYEBALL
Now tighten your buttocks.
-Whispers- i think he’s talking about sex
(which works as both a comment on the commentary, and the strip… though Joe ruins it by saying ‘sex’)
–and then Mrs. Willis gives him an amp
*wonk wonk*
Nah, he is married now, he is talking about getting his favourite meal.
A box lunch at the Y?
Ah, the callback strip. Tell me, Willis, what would you of 1999 say about what you of now has done so far? haha crisis of infinite Walkys
Also Joe is severely overestimating the willingness of any random girl he finds on that floor, methinks. As is Danny, I guess, seeing as he doesn’t bother to inform Joe that those won’t be the consequences at all.
Sometimes I wonder if Joe’s rarely-utilized extreme intelligence and frequently-utilized proficiency at landing casual sex are his abductee powers, or if he is just a reincarnation of another Jewish sexually depraved scientific genius: Albert Einstein.
Aww seriously?! I had certain ItsWalky pages bookmarked that took me forever to sort through. Also, would we still have to pay for the ending on this site or will you just post it by the time you get to it?
Hint: just swap out “itswalky” with “joyceandwalky” in all the URLs, that site still works.
#lifehacks
Thanks so much for that. Now I just need to take a few minutes to re-bookmark them and I’m good.
Ooh, thanks. In this way I was also able to find the “art history” strips that I was wondering about.
Of course JoyceAndWalky.com will be overwritten when this site gets that far.
Well, that gives me five years longer than I thought I had to obsessively save the original Sunday colors and other apocrypha that might otherwise be lost to the sands of time. I meant to take care of it this past month, and I didn’t get nearly as close as I’d like, so it comes as a serious relief.
Not a big of a loss as the other two though. JaW was only ever a once a week comic, where at least, AT LEAST, two thirds of the content were hidden behind a paywall.
It was a frenetic game of guess what you missed, accompanied by at least two storylines that were actually complete, and a single full M-F line.
Finding out what you missed became a hunt the pixel game in the previews on the store, and extreme logic and memory.
I’ll miss it too.
*blows party noise maker thing*
Hooray!
I never really liked Roomies, mostly for the reasons that have been mentioned throughout the rerun. That said, it’s impressive that it ran so long, and came to a conclusion, of sorts.
Plus, now I’m glad I get to move my hate onto Joyce, instead of Danny. It’s more satisfying hating on a more developed character.
MY Hate will likely be going to Walky. Joyce is mostly a blank slate whose only character trait is optimism for quite a while.
Eh, hate is kinda hard after the second storyline.
So, am I the only one here who will probably be reserving my hate for actual villains?
Wait a second. Why is he talking to Billie on the phone? I thought she lived in their dorm room now. DAMMIT NOTHING MAKES SENSE ANYMORE!
Maybe she’s already gone home for the winter?
This is when the Walkyverse gets, you know, COOL and stuff, right?
Cool?
cool doesn’t even cover all the epic awesomeness that It’s Walky is!
Well it certainly gets a hell of a lot more complicated. I’m just glad we’re going to have the character tags so I can finally get all the side characters sorted out.
It¿s Walky’s gonna star agaaaaaaain!!!!!!
SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!
So do I need to change my bookmark to bringbackitswalky.com or something? Or will it auto redirect?
Also, I discovered IW! In 2003 in my Freshman year in college (I’m the guy from Canada you met at The signing on Sunday) so this is pretty cool for me. I think IW! Was in year 4 or 5 when I joined in the fun. I specifically remember avatars in the old Keenspot forums wearing birthday hats with the number 7 on them, but that included Roomies I bet.
Holy Bejeebus, I remember those hats!
I had the cat in my avatar wearin’ one.
Already auto-redirectin’. Check out the fresh new color scheme!
Tomorrow night is going to be awesome!
The website seems to agree with you.
It’s already swapping its color scheme…
So it turns out that “consequences” meant “broken legs” in the end.
STIs? Unwanted pregnancies? Naw, the real consequences of sex are broken extremeties (Joe was lucky this time it was just his leg).
New page layout! Awesome! Also, apparently it’s walky.com.
And I have a shiny new Dina Gravatar! Fuck yeah! **does the “I am no longer represented by Howard” dance**
So, farewell then. Roomies. You were very nice.
Bring on the Walky!
Cue the annoying “Who’s my new gravatar?” posts!
Monkey Master! Sweet!
Powerful sex is my favorite kind of sex.
Man of steel
Woman of steel
Bed of kleenex
It is Christmas. Thank you Santawillis.
Yes! Redrawn “it’s Walky” strips! I’m really looking forward to this. “It’s Walky” has always been my favorite of Willis’ webcomics
And so, 666 days later, Roomies ends.
Yeah, this strip was posted 666 after the first.
Not anywhere? http://www.joyceandwalky.com/d/19991225.html
“THE OLD STRIPS”
THAT IS THE NEW
why are people so quick to try to correct me on my own comics, i think i know which ones have been offline for years
You can see the massive difference in art style between everything up to http://www.joyceandwalky.com/d/20000210.html and everything past http://www.joyceandwalky.com/d/20000211.html. Hurry now before 2 + 2 starts to equal 5 or Joyce’s hair stops pointing up in a triangle!
Thanks for the journey, Willis! It’s awesome that you took all the time and effort to rerun the Roomies strips and are now doing it with It’s Walky. You’re one of the most, if not the most, hardworking, dedicated, and interactive webcomic artists out there!

You know what they say Mon Capitan all good things come to an end. And so does Roomies BOOM!
In all seriousness it was fun going back through these last few as I’ve not read these strips since I discovered the Walkyverse in 2009. Back then I was a stronger christian and didn’t really think anything Danny did was all that wrong.
Now I still believe in God but I’m not as Christian as I used to be and realize he’s a self rightous ass for most of the strip. But I do feel he develops a little better than people give him credit for.
Anyway can’t wait for It’s Walky to begin tomorrow because it is freaking awesome.
Sweet I’m The Head Alien!
I enjoyed the return visit to this strip. While I had read them already, it was so long ago that I had forgotten most of them, then I discovered It’s Walky and quickly became engrossed in that. Looking forward to going through that series again, and also to seeing the old versions.
I came to the Walkyverse during Shortpacked! so this is all new to me. The best part of this revisit has been Willis’s commentary, seeing him be horrified by his old art style, pointing out minor tidbits that were foreshadowing for the story he always meant to tell, and most interestingly the one off gags that grew a life of their own and turned into major plotlines later. I don’t know how much of that we’ll get to see with redrawn strips but I’m buckled in and ready for the ride.
Joe hoped to have a good fuck in the girls’ section of the dorm.
Unfortunately, the cartoonist had no fucks left to give.
Why is Danny calling her? Didn’t she live with them?
I must say, despite being a fan brought in by Dumbing of Age, and reading through Roomies more with a sense of curiosity and sardonic amusement than anything else, seeing it end like this makes me feel…a little sad? Maybe it’s because I’m not used to seeing webcomics actually finish, but here’s this small college slice-of-life comic being all close-ended, and it’s almost damned stirring.
You get this melancholic sense of completeness, y’know? The characters and writing had its problems, but it didn’t seem to take more time than was necessary to finish the story…fortunately for you, apparently.
Man, I’m a sucker for a good book-ends setup.
Heck, I’m honestly pretty easily won over even by mediocre book-ends setups. I’m not too hard to please. ;p
