on January 28, 2018 at 12:01 amThis page is mostly T and Jason doin’ their usual Fans! magic.
Readers generally considered this a high-water mark for Shanna and Fans. I think that’s mostly because it completed her long transformation from outsider to fervent member of the group. There’s nothing quite like the zeal of the recent convert.
Monkey Master gets a couple of good bits, though. I like how the script uses both his tech savvy and the fact that he identifies as an animal (“I’m an ape!… We predators”) rather than a robot.
Calling Pinkerton a “professional” is… technically true, but it makes him sound much more threatening than he was. In general this whole speech has a bit of an “inflating your accomplishments on a resume” vibe, but it’s actually pretty close to the truth – they really are that good.
Oh wait, Pinkerton is the maniac. I’m good with reading
And I’ll say it again: Shanna fucking rules
So the Fans have a particular set of skills?
I always loved this, it really put a positive spin on Shanna because she has always been so… …crusty. Here she’s telling how she feels about Rikk, Rumi, and the rest of the Fans– and you can believe what she says, because she believes it herself.
Bravo.
I think the bearded guy is Fitz.
Nope, that’s the shrink who tried to convince Shanna she was insane right after the Hyperman story arc, when Shanna had been kidnapped by the FIB.
Now if she were at the point where she could bring herself to talk about Will, you’d be seriously f#$%ed.
So many true and funny responses to choose from, but I don’t want to put any spoilers here.
I just caught up to book 2 in Franz, honestly I haft to yield too shanna here they go up against some crazy shit.
I love how this parallels with the recent Guilded Age arc. You know what? I just love Shanna. Always the fish out of water, but always making it work.
