Maybe it’s a… program or something? I dunno, I haven’t been in a Chuck E. Cheese’s in forever.
it’s just a birthday card with a mouse theme on it, there’s some Chuck E. Cheese money inside
idk
Maybe they have brochures for people who book parties with them. I haven’t a clue how booking their parties goes. My grandmother did throw a birthday party for me back when the place was still called ShowBiz Pizza.
Last time I was in one, it was still just like it was when I was a small kid. Except 20+ years older, and showed it.
Ah yes nothing says mature like a giant rat screaming children and cardboard pizza
Don’t forget beer and wine! (Seriously.)
As long as there’s beer, I’m ok with it.
so is he saying “when *I* want boring, I go watch an animatronic rat!”?
I haven’t been to a Chuck E Cheese’s since I was a very little kid. I don’t know what it’s like today, but I think I’ll stick to pizza restaurants I know are good.
I’ve never been to one of those places – are they that big a deal in the States?
They’re a huge industry, and they rent function rooms out to throw kids’ birthday parties in. There are even chains like Walky & Buster’s that market the same kind of arcade restaraunt experience to adults, but they generally have better food.
Also they inspired the super popular game series Several Evenings with Fredrick.
Never stop being a kid, Walky. Have fun in the ball pen alone.
This looks like a good time to reflect on the lesson here. There’s growing up and then there giving up who and what you are, these two are not the same. Growing up involves growing into a older, wiser, and more developed version of what you are now but the person you were before still stays the same at it’s core, that is maturity.
Then there’s changing who you are which is pretty much just giving up everything that makes you you in the corse of a single day just to be something your not, That’s not perfect that’s being fake and in a situation like this it’s kind of unfair for someone like Dina to demand Walky to do that for her when I’m pretty sure Walky hasn’t and wouldn’t even dare ask her to do the same for him.
I have to say, it’s pretty neat seeing the contrast between Walky’s relationships with Dina in this ‘verse and Dorothy in DoA, considering that they both have fairly similar goals along the lines of “make Walky more mature”, but the differences in their personalities, methods, and final expectations are such that one seems to be succeeding while the other failed miserably.
With Dorothy/Walky in DoA I feel like that’s a relationship where two people from two different worlds who would usually not go for each other come together and in a short amount of time they’ve both shared a genuine amount of experiences with each other, enough so for both of them to help each other to actually grow into something more, that’s the sign of a actaully healthy relationship.
Even though I still like the pairing of Joyce/Walky a little bit more than Dorothy/Walky, I can still appreciate that one similarity both relationships have.
Dina, it may be time to re-evaluate your relationship.
Dina, why haven’t you broken up with him yet?
I love the implication that he read the brochure. Like sometime earlier that day he was in careful study, deliberating the many options of his evening activities. Maybe while muttering to himself “Hm aha yes I see” Maybe he highlighted some of the more pertinent bullet points. And then it narrowly beat out a long-form essay about eating takeout while watching BSG season 2

well then
I remember when it was Showbiz Pizza, but then again I’m old
Had to scroll all the way to the end, but I knew I’d find a Showbiz comment eventually.
