Is this the part where the alien parasite bursts from her chest, tying into the invasion storyline of It’s Walky? Let this be a lesson to everyone about avoiding mysterious eggs in derelict spacecraft.
That’s the one part of It’s Walky! that I never really understood or thought worked. Like, I was all for aliens and robots and strange technology, but zombies was the first time I stepped back and said, “Bullshit”. I mean, I didn’t actually say that, since I wasn’t swearing yet, but it was the same general idea.
If I’m remembering it correctly… Hooper was totally going to actually die the first time in the Martian ruins, but it happened right around the same time as the 9/11 terrorist attack in reality. So it was re-written that he survived, because that’s less grim. Then, probably as a one-off joke, it turns out that he was partially zombified offscreen by something in the Martian ruins. (Well, they have slow-working cloning-resurrection machines. Maybe they have fast-working zombifying machines alongside.)
See, on my second read, I assumed it had to do with Necrotech (presented by HAII in Joyce and Walky). The first zombie did get killed near Martian ruins, so… it sort of makes sense.
… yeah, I’m probably trying too hard.
{Sure, when we say we’re from the planet Alien everyone gives us strange looks, and yet those genital demons are literally called “foreign shapes” and they get a free pass.}
And there’s the Mary we can all hate on as she spreads her upper crust all over the floor.
Danny looks disgusted maybe..but it should be at himself for his behavior towards Billie.
(True, it wrong of her AND Mary to drag Danny into their battle, but still, he Danned up his treatement of Billy … big time)
There was no dragging Danny into their battle; it was about him to begin with. He was the cause of the conflict, and his opinion and allegiance were the ground the battle was being fought on. And Mary was the attacker, going after Billie because she perceived Billie as a threat to her control of Danny’s morality.
And Danny is an asshole who won’t even back up his girlfriend when some two-faced bitch starts casting aspersions on her character.
And all Billie was doing was defending herself with the truth against an alleged Christian bearing false witness against her. Punching Mary in the face may have been a little over the top, but I can’t say I wouldn’t have done the same in her place.
Er, guys? Billie just literally said “the only way to be happy is to kill yourself in a car wreck”, and then you LET HER GET IN A CAR! What’s WRONG with you people? Take away her keys, sit on her, just do something other than let her drive off to a possible suicide.
You know, much as I’m generally willing to give Danny the benefit of the doubt, this is the first time where I’ve found his behavior to be more intolerable than the other characters in the strip instead of less.
I mean, yes, Mary is a hypocritical asshole. She also got just punched in the face, and now seems to be showing signs of illness from the shock–why is Danny turning his back on her? Even if Mary is pregnant, that doesn’t mean he’s excused from showing a little concern for her physical well-being.
He’s not deaf, and honestly my issue here is not whether or not Mary is a huge bitch (she is) or whether she deserved to be punched (I don’t think so, but that’s subjective), but that holy shit, Billie just punched out a woman who as it turns might be pregnant and somebody should really go and check and make sure Mary’s lying ass isn’t keeling over in the living room right now because she thinks it’s a fun thing to do and ISN’T SERIOUSLY HURT
Well, fast-forward to the next strip and we do see some signs that Danny actually noticed, so the point is moot. But the reason I thought it mattered was because being pregnant causes/can cause a lot of health complications, regardless of whether or not it’s carried out to term, and getting punched in the face reaaaaaally doesn’t help with that
This strip highlights what I’ve found, in my brief survey, to be the big difference between Walkyverse Mary and Dumbiverse Mary — Somehow, even through all her hypocrisy and cruelty, this Mary is genuinely convinced she’s somehow doing “the right thing.” For Dumbiverse Mary, her “Christian Morality” is increasingly blatantly a justification for the fact that she just likes making people suffer and having power over them, and it’s not even clear if she genuinely believes it at this point.
He was playing Devil’s Advocate WONK WONK
“Oh right, I was going to ‘thank’ her, wasn’t I?”
Danny’s face is priceless *laughs to cover the fact that I have made that face for that exact reason*
That punch is slowly taking it’s toll on Mary. What a Golden Experience (pun).
Is it really the punch?
Hey, he’s referencing Jojo’s bizarre adventure part 5.
Probably not. Mary doesn’t drink alcohol, remember?
– You know who else don’t drink alcohol? Pregn… Yeah.
Is Danny the upper crust? Is he a headliner on the society pages? Does he see ghoooOOOoosts?
(Podcast references aside, pretty sure Billie is upper class too, Mary!)
For some reason my mind flickers to The Great Gatsby.
Yeah, Billie’s definitely upper class.
Does Danny care what evil lurks in the hearts of men?
I will disregard everything I already know about what’s going to happen because now I choose to believe Danny is literally scowling Mary to death
If Danny could literally scowl someone to death, I would actually respect him. Or fear him. Either/or.
He’s force-choking her.
“I find your lack of ability to live up to your faith disturbing.”
Good thing Mike never found out, or he would have killed Danny out of jealousy.
He finds her hypocritical faith disturbing.
No he’s scowling because the stick up his butt is moving up to form a backbone.
The first time I was reading through the archives I thought the same thing. I wondered if danny had gotten abducted as well and that was his power.
Is this the part where the alien parasite bursts from her chest, tying into the invasion storyline of It’s Walky? Let this be a lesson to everyone about avoiding mysterious eggs in derelict spacecraft.
No, no, this is where the zombie infection started.
Because there’s zombies in It’s Walky!.
That’s the one part of It’s Walky! that I never really understood or thought worked. Confession: I’m still not entirely sure how they fit into the story or why they exist.
Honestly I didn’t get the zombies either. Especially since it involved one of the b list teams whose characters I could never remember.

(I was being vague to avoid spoilers, but then the person above me just said who it was, so… yeah, nevermind that I guess.)
{Sure, when we say we’re from the planet Alien everyone gives us strange looks, and yet those genital demons are literally called “foreign shapes” and they get a free pass.}
can’t help but start mentally singing Beggar at the Feast whenever i see the phrase “upper crust…”
Billie: “As for you, take this, too!” punch “God forgive us, the things that we do~”
And there’s the Mary we can all hate on as she spreads her upper crust all over the floor.

Morning sickness from all the “evangelizing” she’s been up to?
I have no idea how quickly time passes in this comic.
I’m thinking she may be concussed from the punch, although that is another reasonable option.
Er, guys? Billie just literally said “the only way to be happy is to kill yourself in a car wreck”, and then you LET HER GET IN A CAR! What’s WRONG with you people? Take away her keys, sit on her, just do something other than let her drive off to a possible suicide.
Shit, the abortion bit is coming, isn’t it?
Oh, Past Willis
uh, that’s actually a way off
[lol spoilarz]

He was facing away from her before her illness started showing. He’s facing away from her because she’s a huge bitch and deserved that punch.
Unless you count her unfocused eyes in panel 4 as a symptom?

blargh, meant that as reply to the string above ^^
Nobody’s noticed he’s not okay yet, she only just started showing signs in the last panel, relax.
And she’s just going to have an abortion anyway so who cares if she’s pregnant?
Well, fast-forward to the next strip and we do see some signs that Danny actually noticed, so the point is moot. I choose to believe that Danny’s responses are all actually two minutes behind.
*… … … hey, she called my girlfriend a slut!*.

Today, on Roomies! Minus Danny, apparently Billie’s punch combined with pregnancy have caused Mary to start hallucinating.
…Might wanna get that checked out.
