Vocabulary pedant interjection: the word you want is “equating”, to consider one thing to be the same as or equal to another thing.
“Equivocating” is using ambiguous language so as to conceal the truth or avoid committing oneself. Someone in the closet sometimes needs to equivocate. Someone who doesn’t understand being in the closet might equate that equivocation with “tricking somebody with malicious intent”… but they’d be wrong.
Ah, I’d made the same mistake in assuming the Jocelyn tag thing was a twist reveal, and not something you yourself were unaware of of the character (Writers not knowing everything about their characters is a bit mind-blowing for non-writers like myself.)
Although thinking back, there was that bit in Shortpacked where you tagged what appeared to be Drunk Mike as regular Mike before revealing that he was actually sober all along, so that does make sense.
There’s also DoA Ryan’s first appearance, where he didn’t tag his name for the first few days (and then went back and tagged him retroactively)? Am I remembering that one right?
to be honest… i did read the tags. but only after i thought to myself “that’s totally Walky, isn’t it?” i mean… he was all covered in shadow and you refused to show his face clearly. that’s a tell-tale sign of concealed identity, angst, or foreshadowing that Terra is going to betray you to Slade.
Welp, that answers the question I asked about five days ago.
But even in the last couple of strips (after the colored “Sunday-comic” style ones) the character still looks more like Sal than Walky in disguise. You really have to be looking very closely to see anything that might tip you off, and I was putting that down to a function of Willis’ style as well as technological limitations in the capabilities of the drawing software at that time.
What, he didn’t even stick a couple’a grapefruits down his shirt? No way that fools anyone.
Also where did he get a wig? Did he grab some brown seaweed?
actually yeah!
And did he shave his legs? Does Sal NOT shave her legs? Did Walky already have smooth legs?
I’ve overthought this, haven’t I?
There was the one comic where Walky said he felt itchy all over, maybe it just hasn’t grown back yet?
“Well, look, I’m not gonna use the tags to LIE, and an omission is kind of transparent, so whatcha gonna do, eh?”
Umm….Jocelyn Brown ring any bells?
When Joyce’s sibling first appeared in the strip, *I* didn’t yet know.
also i don’t really like equivocating “tricking somebody with malicious intent as part of a battle strategy” with being in the closet but whatevs
Oh, is that why you changed it?? That’s interesting, I just assumed that was your plan from the outset. When did you come up with the idea?

Ok, I’m done being an ass for now.
packy, i just want to be friends
Meme necromancy!
The uncharacteristic all-lowercase (plus the comment from Bo) seems to suggest this is a reference to something I don’t recognize.
I’m packy, and I approve of this meme resurrection.

Oh my god there’s an entire site of vintage Walky fanart
As someone who got here 20 years late this is amazing

eeeeeeeeeeh
Then he takes that mask off and it turns out to be black widow.
He would’ve gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for those meddling aliens!
I read them!!! Argh!
But I DIDN’T. I got spoiled because I was a dumbass who read the comments. -_-
Same. I should have known better, of course…these comments are constantly full of spoilers…but…
I’m here to join the dumbass club…

Surprize! heheheh
I learned a long time ago not to take any of the tags at face value, ever.
Wouldn’t HA have pegged on as soon as Walky said ‘disgusting’? I mean, unless the twins have really similar voices.
Us Earthlings all sound the same to him.
“Heh heh! Do a pretty good impression of my sister, don’t I? Switch clothes and no one can tell us apart.”
“Oh, now I am the queen, and you the escapee – we are twins, like two ships in a stormy sad sea~”
So yeah, where did that wig come from? Does SEMME carry one around for occasions like this, or did they just scalp Sal?
