I’d say “I hope this isn’t the day Joe decided to go commando” but it wouldn’t be the first time he walked around campus naked. At least this time he has a shirt.
Teehee. When I first read that you were posting these I was not interested because I remembered Roomies as being pretty bad, but the self-deprecating commentary is totes worth it (also the ones done later in your cartooning career are significantly better, so that is a nice bonus).
Long walk? I’m not sure I understand…?
He means it’s an absurd leap of logic.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard that turn of phrase before.
I usually hear it in regards to a long setup for a joke, especially if it requires several logical jumps.
Like here where we go from “Pointy ears” to “Spock” to “living logically” to “removing unnecessary items” to “excuse for Joe to remove his pants”.
“I’ve stripped my life of all unnecessary things!” is what Howard tells himself when he’s crying himself to sleep alone and unloved, isn’t it?
“I am a rock
I am an is—–land”
Oh my god, a fellow Simon and Garfunkel fan!
Pants! Who needs them anyhow?
I have the same feelings about underpants. Except in winter.
So how much Star Trek did you watch by this point?
Unnecessary things, like fake Spock ears.
>_>
<_<
That would be a logical conclusion.
Joe’s got the right idea here.
Howard, I’m pretty sure Spock ears count as unnecessary.
I hate you more and more as I go through these archives Howard. I swear I didn’t hate him so much in the past.
But going back on it he’s just so terrible.
Pretty much everyone in Roomies is terrible.
Yeah. Pretty much everybody is awful to him, and it’s so hard to feel sorry for him over it.
It just occurred to me that Howard and Billie are the same age, and were neighbors growing up. This perhaps explains Billie’s attitude towards nerds.
That explains so much.
I’d say “I hope this isn’t the day Joe decided to go commando” but it wouldn’t be the first time he walked around campus naked. At least this time he has a shirt.
Wait….
A dude in just a shirt looks way goofier than a naked dude.
I am most fascinated by Howard’s Glasses’ disappearing nose-bridge.

Is it just me who read “Fwap” as a wet material sound?
I hate his logic but I love his conclusion. Pants? Who needs ’em.
Panel three kind of looks like Joe’s already taking off his pants when Howard starts talking, and just justifies it later.
