In the Marvel universe the Hallmark Corporation is vastly more powerful and they force people to celebrate multiple Christmases a year, even altering the weather so they’re always snowy.
I mean, yeah, I got THAT part, he could travel through universes, but that never explained why he was immortal AND apparently all powerful. Did he absorb the power of da cheese? Is he (his OG universe’s) Da Cheese now? was he getting powers by absorbing other universes versions of himself?
Apparently getting locked into one universe means he has limited fuel left.
Ah, as HAII directly states here. “I have nothing more than the powers you used to have.” (To Walky, who was briefly The Cheese.) Pretty sure the malfunction/virus in the suit gave him universe-hopping, while being thrown into the Cheese made him the new one. Zapping would then take away the virus, but he’s still operating at the moment on a Cheese-level of power.
Having never read any of these before, I’m interpreting the “last of my strength” bit to mean that when they zapped him they removed his renewable source of power and he’s been running off “batteries” essentially ever since. Which would be why he doesn’t have enough power to make any more universe jumps.
Re: the number of years issue, I’m just going with “the sheer number of time travelers from alternate futures concentrated in one place is causing damage to the fabric of spacetime.” All of the events happen in the order presented in this archive, but the calendar dates themselves are sliding all over the place as time attempts to cope with their presence without the Cheese to stabilize things.
Never tell the heroes that you’re using the last of your strength. Always make it seem like whatever you’re doing is not only intentional but that you can keep it up for as long as you want. C’mon HAII, that’s basic villainy 101.
I figure if Heady says he’s using the last of his strength, it’s a sure bet he’s got some left. “Never tell the truth about your hidden strength reserves — that’s Villainy 101.
Am I the only one who read ‘meticulous planning’ and heard Be Prepared?
Boo, Willis, boooooo xP
And the interdimensional travel wasn’t the most satisfying? Boooooooooo
Well, as the Official Spider-Man Index often put it, Christmas was just a topical reference and doesn’t indicate the actual passage of a year.
Except at Marvel, 1 year of comic book time means 3 years in the real world. The walkyverse has always been 1:1.
The Walkyverse time was certainly 1:1 and there are certainly other exceptions, but there’s no broadly applied 3 to 1 rule that I know of.
In the Marvel universe the Hallmark Corporation is vastly more powerful and they force people to celebrate multiple Christmases a year, even altering the weather so they’re always snowy.
Franklin has been a kid for over 50 years, so it’s definitely not a clear cut 1:3 rule.
So where did HAII get these powers? Anyone got a link for me please?
He got thrown into a malfunctioning Cheese by his universe’s version of Sal. See this strip and the two immediately after it.

Could someone summon Willis?
Assume that yes, he’s basically got the full bevy of Cheese powers, only some of which last universe’s Joyce and Walky could lock.

one of those times was christmas in July.

So HAII just drained the last of his strength, which means if Joyce, Walky, and Jason are still alive they could probably kill him now, yes?
Looks like Machete will do it (this is a guess, not a spoiler, this is my first reading)
Even on top of the whole arc, for me the first three panels work incredibly well.

Ooo, you’re right. I hadn’t thought of that. See, this is why I’d make a terrible villain. lol
Good for you, Head Alien!
You mean lots of Christmases? In Discworld Troll, it goes one, two, many, lots. :/
