Whew! This is the last daily full-color strip for a bit. We’re mercifully back to newspaper-formatted grayscale dailies tomorrow. And Danny.
Man, where the heck was Alan during all this, other than avoiding getting offed ‘cuz he knows he’s prone to that to the point of it being a meme, and oops maybe I answered my own question.
Dang, that middle panel’s doing a lot of heavy lifting.
Yeah, we’re lampshading the CGI stuff. Deal with it!
shoulda had ’em squat
“Leg day” squat, “Slav” squat, or “freeloading tenant” squat?
yes
Well, hello, Alan, it’s nice to see you cribbing Miss Clavel’s line.
How did places like Buenos Aires earn a cut of SEMME’s gear?
There was an incident with some agents getting a bit wild during spring break, and they cut Buenos Aires in on the action in exchange for keeping quiet and not pressing charges.
For that matter, how did Tokyo get some of SEMMF’s Martian tech?
Of course Tokyo got some tech. One has to make sure Tokyo Tower gets destroyed, after all. It’s tradition.
Maybe some US officials watched anime in their younger days and thought: “Hey, let’s give some of this confiscated technology to the government of Japan, maybe they’ll create some awesome mechs with it!”
Exactly what I was thinking.
Has anyone suggested that the UN contact the Martian commander and offer to extradite any surviving malefactors to face their jurisprudence? I mean, they probably won’t care; would you listen to such an offer from a group of cockroaches who have destroyed some of your stuff. However, someone should at least make the effort.
FWIW, I think that Linda would surrender herself without hesitation if it came down to her or the entire world.
If cockroaches managed to give me any kind of intelligible proposal, you bet I would listen to it. Hopefully I can turn mercy toward the group into 1. a negotiated way to coexist, 2. publishing the greatest scientific discovery of all time, or 3. an army of insect minions.
So, Penny’s plan was to let the Martians destroy the world so she could rule over the ashes?
Let me see if I have this straight.
The Martians aren’t here to conquer or destroy Earth or humanity; they’re specifically targeting SEMME, probably the Aliens, and any person or place holding their stolen tech.
The Britjas under Penny were planning to take advantage of the destruction in some way that probably only ever made sense to Penny.
We still have no idea what Dargon wanted and probably never will.
That about cover it?
I think it’s been suggested that the Martians aren’t particularly inclined to discriminate between “the humans who killed thousands of our people, or at least have some connection to them” and “the humans who don’t”, but I could have that wrong. That aside, this sounds about right, yes.
