sorry, i just googled benji. movies carried on into the previous decade. comment withdrawn, that was a fair note. will research before commenting in future
Back in the primitive twentieth century, there were only so many movies, and we didn’t have VCRs (that’s like a DVD player that you have to rewind, and a DVD player is like a Roku that you have to put a coaster labelled with the movie you want to watch in), so you had to watch whatever random thing came on the television. Sometimes that was Benji.
Benji also used to be very popular. I’ve never actually seen the movie, but growing up (born in early 90s) I heard Benji referenced occasionally and I knew who he was.
1974?!
Wow; that dog must have been pretty tired, considering how old he wwould have been, by the time he was doing all that running around with the fancy-bracelet aliens and the mini-flying saucer with WALL-E eyes…
Checking, that was the second Benji…who first appeared in 1977, so was pretty mature…and positively ancient when she appeared in her last movie, Benji the Hunted.
Benji is all right, but Benji the Hunted is where it’s really at.
(Disclaimer: I haven’t seen this movie since I was like 7, so it’s probably actually very boring. But he has to fight/run away from a [non-CGI] bear and mountain lion!)
that was over 40 years ago. you weren’t born then either. that explanation isn’t for “youth” just “for people who haven’t seen benji”

Oh come on, we know what DVD players are. Also Blu-Ray players exist. XD
Meanwhile I have no fucking idea what a Roku is except a creepy old dude on Dragon Ball.
or an Avatar
Roku…
You mean Roshi?

I literally had not heard of Benji until now.
What a sad life you have led until now. Thankfully you can do better now.
“What’s she look like first thing in the morning?” is a loaded question, Walky.
Yea, this is her father talking, the proper answer would be: “I have no idea what she looks like in the morning sir.”
I haven’t seen that movie in two decades. I had it on VHS when I was I child.
Oddly enough, a (US) Blu-ray release for Benji was literally just announced this past Wednesday!
I remember when a dog movie that tugged on your heartstrings meant “Lassie”.
Or “Old Yeller”! (Dear Cheese, I am old)
The best doggone dog in the west.
We had to watch that in second grade. No idea why the teacher thought that was a good idea…
At least it wasn’t Rin Tin Tin…

… Haha, wow, I never saw that….
Thank the gods.

And further checking, the original Benji (her father, Higgins) died less than a year after the first movie came out, at age 14.
Thank you for informing the youth
I just wonder how many fantasy boyfriends Joyce had? Indeed, I wonder how many didn’t even have physical existence outside of her imagination?
Are you saying Benji wasn’t an angel, you monster?
In all fairness, Benji was a really cute small dog.
OMG. I just realized my current dog is a grey-and-tan Benji.
Didn’t joyce and walky were shown kissing in the news?
Did the browns miss this?

Yes, that is interesting, isn’t it?
Wait a few days.
