In the original version, Joyce disappears offpanel towards the White House and later shows up suddendly at the climax to announce that she remembers Walky next to her during one of her childhood abductions. It’s so totes deus ex machina. And so this time around, I tried to take the sting out of it by showing her actual White House scene, fighting to achieve her memories so that it feels like more of an accomplishment. She earns that memory. And so here we are.
