“Oh, and there was that one time in the…70’s…80’s…far flung future? I can never remember. when my own people exiled me for time traveling with humans by sending me to earth to work with humans.
Well, to be fair, Jason, Friends has aged rather well even today, and South Park is being less recognized for it’s crudeness and more for it’s well-thought out tackles on certain current affairs…depending on who you talk to.
Spice Girls though…I’m embarrassed to say I was a fan of their’s. :/ Not out of their actions or anything, it’s just hard to look back on my childhood and realize I went from listening to every pop song in the nineties to various subgenres of rock music.
That would have been a fun running gag in It’s Walky! It wouldn’t even be brought up, it would just change size, and colour, and shape, and sometimes be replaced by objects like a toy helicopter. and a Rubix Cube.
If you’re trying to think of bad things in America, I wouldn’t list a genuinly well-written and funny sitcom, and a cartoon series that is often hailed fo being a sartirical masterpiece.
(That’s the problem with references like that. They have to be things everyone has heard of. If you referenced, I dunno, “Random Sitcom About People Who Sold Ice-Cream”, no-one would recognise the show.)
In all fairness, England has far worse sitcoms than Friends, too. I’ve been witness to a few.
Though, in the UK’s defense, when we get a British show in the US, it’s generally a good one. We send every piece of crap we produce to every corner of the Earth…
To be totally fair in it’s first couple seasons South Park wasn’t exactly a “Satirical Masterpiece.” Remember the first episode was pretty much nothing but fart jokes.
It did grow and is one of the few consitently funny long running shows.
You can find a LOT of people who will disagree with you about Friends being well-written and funny. A lot of the characters have basically only one joke or personality trait, especially in later seasons, and it’s very “safe” sitcom material.
True. But it’s also the show that had an extended subplot which involved Joey having a crush on Rachel and it did it while keeping Joey, Rachel and Ross sympathetic, rather than turning one of them into a temporary bag guy to make things easier.
(and then it broke Joey and Rachel up in the most stupid way possible).
But anyways, even if you agree that later episodes are “safe” (which I do partially agree with) I’d never hold it up as an example of how rubbish American culture is. Unless I had a stick up my arse. Which Jason maybe does…
so he came looking for adventure and decided to just sit around and watch the telly upon arrival? That’s… Boring. Some international man of danger he turned out to be.
Roomies!, more like Nineties!
As a British person I have to say well played Sal well played
“And then I stole a Tardis and ran away from home along with my granddaughter…”
Oddly enough, you don’t have to be in Russia for the time machine to steal YOU.
“…and several dozen humans, at one point a robot dog, and the most amazing person ever Captain Jack Harkness, who will live forever…”
“… A robot, another Time Lady, more humans, I’m not entirely sure what that is actually…”
“and I fought Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, The Master, Weeping Angels and bunch of other crap.”
“Oh, and there was that one time in the…70’s…80’s…far flung future? I can never remember. when my own people exiled me for time traveling with humans by sending me to earth to work with humans.
Yeah it doesn’t make much sense to me either.”
But it is still awesome
Check out Jason’s sweet shoulder pads!
And ever-growing bowtie.

In the genre of “harmless catchy pop”, the Spice Girls were pretty damn good. Like Girls Aloud, who also have really infectious songs.
“So, yes, mostly I’ve been watching the telly and getting angry at it instead of actually adventuring. Aren’t you glad I told you this?”
My god… Jason was being Ethan before Ethan!
My god…it all makes sense!
Sounds more like newspaper Spider-man to me.
hahaha!
Haha, the Nineties, am I right?
Don’t worry, Jason. The new adventures will come…
…after The Animated Series.
Hey Jason, don’t look now but I think your bowtie keeps changing size.
That would have been a fun running gag in It’s Walky! It wouldn’t even be brought up, it would just change size, and colour, and shape, and sometimes be replaced by objects like a toy helicopter. and a Rubix Cube.
My new fanon is that Jason’s bowtie contains a whole bunch of Inspecter Gadgetesque contraptions.
What would it do during serious scenes though?
The bowtie being an actual bowtie would be the main sign of an incoming serious moment.
You know Jason’s serious when the bowtie comes off.

In fairness, England does have far better sitcoms than Friends.
Can’t speak to its animation industry, though, beyond Aardman and The Secret Show.

You’d also find a LOT of people who think that Jon Stewart isn’t funny, too. Doesn’t mean I’m gonna listen to them.
I’m with Sporky on this.
I go on adventures! But all I find is TV!
