I know that feeling. My first two attempts to read Roomies she was the only character I liked and once she was gone, and with Danny surviving rubbing salt in the wound, I quit in disgust both times. It’s kind of a funny story since I didn’t even remember the first attempt until right as In was giving up and it felt so familiar.
But if he dies in DOA, it should be AFTER Amber has moved on to someone better. Otherwise, she’d be in danger of that thing people do where the dead significant other is elevated in their heads to “The Perfect Significant Other” and all faults are forgotten. We don’t want Amber to be forever tainted by rose-colored memories of “perfect” Danny. 😛
I hope once everything goes down, Walky goes into greater depth about how he feels this storyline did or did not work. I’m genuinely surprised at how quickly it has come upon us. Like, reading through the first time, this storyline felt like it had such an impact that I thought it had a much longer build-up.
It’s kind of neat seeing people who are reading it for the first time, though.

The girl thinks that picking fights with superpowered crazy chicks is a good plan, that running into the middle of multi-sided fights between superhumans and aliens, most of whom don’t care if she lives or dies, is a good plan, and that marrying Danny is a good plan. And that’s when she’s sober. And right now she’s drunk. And she thinks this is a bad plan. This should be a big flashing warning sign here.

Last strip I was expecting the upcoming HEAVILY SPOILERED event to end up as Danny drunkenly running over Ruth in the driveway. At least that’s one horrible scenario out. Probably.
