“He could be anyone from any time. Therefore it’s far more likely he’s someone from our tiny social circle than, say a dude from Ancient Egypt or something.”
Joe never struck me as the type of guy who could pull off this kind of deceptiveness. He’d either probably wind up telling somebody he shouldn’t, or he’d have so many nervous tells that he’s keeping a secret that it’d be obvious to everyone.
Is “It” a kade?
It is you.
How are you gentlemen !!
… Red Herring?
It turns out the real Cheese was all the friends we made along the way!
I’ve got to admit, this whole “Who is The Cheese?!?” plot point felt like it came out of nowhere for no reason.
Yeah, but given how many plot points were successfully set up and paid off in a way that felt natural one missing the mark isn’t a big deal.
Yeah, if he’d introduced this plot point *before* all the red herrings, those might have made some sense.
I was wondering about that too. What evidence is there in past strips that point to him knowing this?
I can’t even remember if it got answered, or just dropped out as clumsily as it dropped in.
There is an answer. Eventually.
If Joe knows who The Cheese is and he hasn’t told anyone yet, he’s probably got a good reason not to tell.
Does he? Does he really?
Yeah, this plot point was a weird one for me.
Especially since I never got the whole, “He could be anyone from any time.” part.
“He could be anyone from any time. Therefore it’s far more likely he’s someone from our tiny social circle than, say a dude from Ancient Egypt or something.”
Please. Joe doesn’t even know who his girlfriend is.
Wait, does that mean… that his girlfriend is…
I’m imagining a Scooby-Doo reveal.
‘It was Old Man Jenkins! But why?’ ‘I’ve been bored since Scooby-Doo stopped actually doing these…’
“I would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren’t for you SEMME kids and your fNWMNWg dog.”
Joe: “We have a dog?”
Joyce: “Yeah! We’ve always had a dog! I fed him just a few strips ago!”
You know, when you open up a computer and muck around with the wiring, and as a result you know what software was installed in it?
