I honestly have no idea who The Cheese is
on November 9, 2018 at 1:01 amI don’t remember Joe’s train of thought that led him to that conclusion. But, hey, red herring identity deployed. Which, really, at this early stage in the finale, makes it obviously not the correct answer. You know how procedurals work.
but she’s CLEARLY Spider-Car
COME ON
Amazi-Cheese is always prepared for anything
Thanos-Cheese is coming for us all!
…Dalek-Cheese creeps me out the most
Seriously, perfect gravitar.
Chucky Cheese wants to play.
The Identity of the Cheese is not Identity of Tarn, as far as mysteries go.
I had multiple guesses for who Tarn was, including one that turned out to be correct, and one that was a big red herring. Even with all the talk in the commentary about Dina being the red herring, this is the first time in the strip I saw any hint that it was her, when a character outright says he thinks Dina is the Cheese.
Tarn?
Assuming you don’t mean the Decepticon.
I do mean the Decepticon. Who was most decidedly not Roller.
Nor Dominus Ambus! Who I know at least one person thought he was.
I honestly would have liked that better than Roller, even though we really got no hint Dominus was anything to Prime.
I used to really like this one procedural, until I realized that no matter the method/crime, the culprit was always in the room/being talked to by the investigators at minute 10.
It held true for a whole season after I noticed once.
Just killed the whole show for me.
Right? RIP Cop Rock
Walky’s sclera haunt me.
I see a pretty obvious train of thought for Joe to be following there.
1) Walky thinks the Cheese is someone they know.
2) Obviously, someone not around any more.
3) Someone that Walky gets pretty emotionally unhinged about.
Dina is an obvious fit for that profile.
I think this was the part where I completely lost the plot during the initial run, and I have to say I’m not doing too much better the second time through. I read these strips for the characters more than anything, so the shift to being so heavily plot-driven felt like an abrupt bait and switch? The delivery of the long term plotting has gotten a lot better across Shortpacked! and Dumbing of Age, feels like?
I’ve been reading along for the first time for basically everything psat the very early Roomies! strips, with Willis’s commentary to comfort me, and even WITH that and various comments to clue me to the intended red herring… nope, this is waaaaay the fuck outta left field. I can’t even, what the fuck is even going on.
The long-term plotting/pay-off got WAY better in Shortpacked! and Dumbing of Age. Like, I know there’s a bunch of stuff that wasn’t necessarily Intended as Long-Term Payoff in Shortpacked! but, uh, it did better at it than a bunch of the stuff that was apparently intend thusly in the REST of Walkyverse. >_>;
I don’t remember exactly, but I think on the first read, I didn’t even consider “who is the Cheese” to be a question until the characters start openly wondering about it. That seemed to come out of the blue to me. Why should it be anyone at all, much less someone they knew? Mysterious cosmic powered entity. Doesn’t need to have a secret identity.
ehh probs a straightforward line of thought (Walky is depressed/guilty over something –> Dina died recently –> Walky was close to Dina –> Walky thinks Dina is The Cheese). Gotta say though, a well-set up red herring, even if kinda obviously one.
I always thought the last panel of this strip felt very “Mary Worth”.
It won’t be long before Joe gets his very own place, with his very own meth lab!
It’s Adolph Menjou!
Oh jeez. Does anyone remember how he became a meme in the It’s Walky comments back in the before time?
I do, since I was a Nightstar boardie.
So does Joe actually not know who The Cheese is here, or is he lying?
I think he thinks something? But I don’t know how and, given what turns out, I don’t know why Joe would look guilty at him.
So is this “Walky thinks the Cheese is in love with him” or… no longer in love with him?
