October 31, 2001! I mean, it’s obviously an October 31 of some stripe, anyway. Though the Osama bin Doggy costume clearly sets this in in late 2001ish, when we were all FUCK THAT GUY!!! but before the ARE WE EVER GONNA FUCK THIS GUY?!?! malaise had set in.
yeah……well, if nothing else, i find it funny.
and what greater condemnation do you need than that?
Huh. The new Harley Quinn costume looks a lot like what Anti-Joyce wore. Even this looks a little bit risque for Joyce (I don’t remember the Halloween strips in Roomies!). Maybe this is character development but then all Anti-Joyce would have needed to not get shot in the head was to lay low for a year or so.
Yeah I’m a little surprised to her in that costume too. Even if it’s not “risqué” (full coverage after all), would she dress as a villain?
“Osama bin Doggy” is something that I have no recollection of.
Am I lucky?
I don’t get it. What’s so offensive about Tony Soprano in a suit?
*faint whispering*
“Tony McHenry?” Never heard of ‘im.
Oh Mike, you are the best at ruining this kind of celebrations.
And kitty Castro is sure as hell not going to like this news.

Also,
It’s nice that Mike is always the mean bastard he can always be.
I love how Big Boss Mike still has the eyebrows. He’s not willing to change his glare from angry to stern, even for the bit.
I always thought that Harley Queen was an odd choice for Joyce as she had never been set up as a comics reader, nor the kind of person that would willingly portray an amoral villainess in a skin-tight costume. I’m guessing it was just Willis being self-indulgent.
I think by this point the DCAU was still on, and Joyce does like cartoons so it could’ve been watching that where she saw and got to like Harley.
Still doesn’t make a ton of sense, but not inconceivable.
I think there also might be something to the comparison between Harley’s naive, gullible enthusiasm and Roomies!-era Joyce.
“Skin-tight” makes it sound more risque than it is. Harley’s original get-up was form-fitting, but more Luke a leotard than comics style spandex.
If anything, it’s arguable less sexy than the Misty or Asuka costumes she’s already worn.
At this point, I’m not even sure Harley was a comic book character. She wasn’t added in until after she picked up a fanbase on BtaS.
Because she was awesome.
Harley had her first solo series by this point. It started in late 2000 or early 2001 I think, but was definitely a thing by October 2001.
Harley was an original character for the cartoon! Her outfit was also not particularly skintight, or at least not conspicuously so. Felt more like a jumpsuit than anything. And she also didn’t start with the obligatory fanservice associations that she has these days.
My understanding is she has largely moved past the fanservice stuff now too, in comics anyway, becoming something very different in many ways since Death of the Family.
Joyce’s costume is pretty cute.
This has always been one of my favorite Mike moments.
A blonde Bond before 2005? C’mon Jason, if you ain’t gonna dress up, at least dye your hair or wear a wig.
I’m crying silent tears of laughter in the library right now over “Osama bin Doggy”.
I spat out my drink.
One of the best Mike moments ever.
