My headcanon is that in DJ’s home universe, that truck didn’t lose control, so Billie is still with Ruth, and so she wasn’t around to fight Sal off when she came nosing around Danny again during IW!.
I fully support any* headcanon which involves there being a universe where Ruth and Billie live a long, happy life together.
*Unless that headcanon is, like, really racist or transphobic or something equally horrible, because Cheese knows people can find a way to fuck anything up if they try hard enough
Am I right in thinking that this is before the Shortpacked arc where Ultra Care and Leslie travel to an alternate universe? (I’ve never read J&W before but have read SP).
The gate they use in SP! will be built during the resolution of JW!. So yeah, this story is waaaay before that one. (More than a year, if I remember correctly.)

I don’t understand the whole “give birth with a friend there” thing, but I think Joe is the person I’d least like being there as my wife gave birth.
I think of Danny as a more boring version of JD from Scrubs, and Joe is his Turk.
Billie will probably handle the birth like a champ, but Danny’s gonna faint multiple times. Joe’s essentially his midwife.

I can’t tell if Joe in the last panel is annoyed because he believes what Danny’s telling him, or because he thinks Danny is making it up.
Poor Danny, of course what broke Joe’s suspension of disbelief was the suggestion that he and Sal could get on in any universe.

Until I read the author comment, I thought Joe meant “screw you” in terms of “screw you for cheating on your wife in another timeline”.
