It sounds like you’ve been through a lot.
on February 3, 2016 at 12:01 amFUCK YEAH AH’VE BEEN THROUGH A LOT, YOU JAG, AN ALIEN FROM SPACE BLEW UP MY PARENTS AND THEN I FOUND OUT THEY WEREN’T MY REAL PARENTS AND I HAD A TWIN BROTHER AND NOW I WORK FOR THE GOVERNMENT AND ALSO I HAVE SUPER POWERS APPARENTLY anyway also i have anger issues go fig
“you couldn’t possibly understand!”
“…you got time for another story?”
Translation:
“You seem upset.”
“Well SHIT YEAH, all this SHIT SHITTINGLY SHITTED ON ME”
“You might be less upset if you realize you’re only letting it hurt you.”
“no”
“Well, okay, if you WANT to be hurt, your choice.”
“FUCK YOU AND YOUR LITTLE DOG”
“WAIT WHAT NO”
I remember feeling differently about this (approximately) when this originally ran, how did I turn into a mostly grown-up with mostly grown-up sensibilities about choosing which battles are worth fighting
I really don’t understand why she blames herself for the things that happened to her, HA is the one that wrecked her life. Anyway, none of this might have happened if someone didn’t switch her with amother child.
Most of it wouldn’t have happened if they’d just told her what was going on instead of slapping her in the face.
Moving on is well and good, but I’m none too fond of Linda’s “then this was pointless” bit. What a great attitude to have toward your daughter opening up to you.
She’s making a point, why even bother telling me this if it wasn’t going to make you feel better? And instead of actually thinking about it Sal just throws anouther tantrum.
Neither side is helping the other work through the issues.
People don’t say “you jag” enough. Dorothy’s bringing it back.
would have been so nice if her mom had said something to the effect of “you don’t deserve all that shit. heck, NO ONE deserves to get their parents blown up by aliens.”
Yeah, this. I mean, not only is it the right thing to say, but part (not all, part) of the reason Sal’s past haunts her so much is that she blames herself for it. Letting go of it would be avoiding her just punishment. So work on that part first.
Would’ve should’ve could’ve. Life’s cycle.
This is actually something of a high point in Linda Walkerton’s parenting skills.
Sweet Jesus sal I bet you bleed live journal.
Linda sounded like Yoda or something in panel three.
That…. is why you fail.
“Not my real parents”… seriously?
Come on, you can do better than that.
