For what it’s worth, I’m sorry

That’s right, “Is A Song Forever?” is about Mary being… nice now? And trying to genuinely make amends? Man, that’s just weird. What fever dream is this.
geez, this is different. without her scowl, mary has pretty much lost her personality. how can we even be sure that it’s the same mary?
Simple…we bring Joe.
Howard: What, whats going on?
Somebody remind me, did Mary take some some action that actually could to be forgiven or was she just her unpleasant self and then manage to get removed as a character in a way that proved her to be a hypocrite? I’m not about to archive dive just the strips with Mary in them.
Because Billie saw her hooking up with a guy Mary tried ruining her relationship with Danny so he wouldn’t believe Billie that she’d do something as sinful as having sex before marriage.
(They were at odds well before that, mind you, but that was the big thing at the end of Roomies.)
I don’t remember how this turns out, but I still feel Mary deserves Billie’s wrath. You don’t shit on people and expect to say “sorry” and everything’s better again. People have long memories.
Also, “forgive and forget” isn’t really a good idea… forgive, sure, but NEVER forget, because how else will anyone learn? Never just forget that something bad happened, or you won’t be able to avoid it in the future.
Even before the very end of Roomies, Mary was still antagonizing her and judging her for a part of her life she was trying and struggling to get away from because she realized how massively fucked it was, and Mary was probably feeding the depression going on there with her by telling her “No, this is all you deserve and ever will deserve.” Billie, by contrast, says “yeah you do you but there’s no way I’m gonna be able to see you as a good influence on my life, so I’m out.”
Apparently it ain’t worth Jack the fuck shit
I never trust people who assume that their apology entitles them to my forgiveness.
Mary is willing to make amends. Probably because she has never had to interact with Willis’ much more diverse modern cast.
This Billie is white (not biracial) and – as far as Mary knows – straight. Easier to play nice on those terms.
I screw up and hurt people’s feelings, sometimes without even knowing it….I’m not all that socially competent. I try to be polite but I’m a very un-pc type.
If someone apologizes to me, I accept it and give them the benefit of the doubt. I’ve needed to be forgiven, a lot.
Mary is a special case I think. When someone screws you over twice: then it should maybe be a warning. “Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.” Mary is the gift that keeps on giving. Can’t blame Billie.
Still felt a bit sorry for Mary, looked like maybe she really was sorry, but hard to say if sorry for way she treated people, or sorry because they didn’t just forgive her.
caaaan you feeeellll the looooove tonighhhht
Um, I can’t get the new DoA. I think there’s something wrong with the server? The cached page won’t show me the comic strip either, just the comments and twitter feed.
Oh good, the problem resolved itself!
I said it once, and I’ll say it again! Mary Spinoff*!
*is a bad idea probably but I still want it.
This calls for a Kickstarter.
I mean, at LEAST a Slipshine.
Come on, Willis! You could buy some more Hot Shots with the porn money!
Poor Mary. The moment she starts trying to become a decent person, she’s shut down…
