I know that the Billie/Ruth romance/sex comics were drawn much later chronologically, but I wonder if Willis had an inkling that Billie and Ruth were more than simply friends. Or if that idea would have even crossed his mind at this point.
he has said, and maybe someone can find this link, that billie and ruth as a couple was always very very canon, from the very beginning. the comics around the kiss were never put up til now, but I think they were drawn the whole time. I think? is that right?
yeah, here it is – they were canon from the beginning, best believe! http://www.bringbackroomies.com/comic/jesus/ I tried to post this last night but could not for some reason.
No – they were canon from the time he drew them, which was during the time he was making the newspaper strips – nearing the end of It’s Walky!, if I remember right.
At this point in Willis’ life, I doubt it would have even occurred to him to have a major character be a lesbian, or even bisexual.
This was probably originally just meant to be Billie reflecting on the death of her best friend.
Ruth and Billie were always at the back of my mind, even here during the summer of 1999. Some of my friends would tease that Billie has banged everyone in the cast, because that’s how 19-year-old males operate — mostly because they probably thought it would bother me — and I’m like “wait, even Ruth?” and they were “well we said everyone, duh-doy” and I’m like “hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm” all the way up through 2004 when I made it real.
I wonder too. But, I don’t think so, Willis was still ‘growing’ with his panel arcs.
I could be wrong, but just don’t think he’d reached that point yet.
Wait – Ron just now found out about that?
It was one hell of a bender, apparently.
“DANGIT RON I’M TRYING TO COPE HERE”
What’s a Q rating?
The Q Score is a measurement of the familiarity and appeal of a brand, company, celebrity, or television show used in the United States.
Well, someone has to fill Ruth’s spot in the billing.
In the Billieing?
Ruth’s spot?

Even in Willis’ fundie days?
Even then.
It’s a fact that Lesbians are hot.
I don’t know that doesn’t sound right.
