Eve and Park did date for a bit during the run of the comic (their first breakup was before the start of the comic), and this story would coincided with when they were dating in OP.
If “giant mutant honey bun” was supposed to be a term of endearment (and I know it wasn’t as I’ve read this storyline before), it wouldn’t make sense since Amber’s shorter than Mike and I’m pretty sure she’s not a mutant.
Mike’s dad’s dialogue reminds me of the first time my girlfriend and I did a day trip to NYC together. Being suburban folk, we severely underestimated the length of time needed to walk given distances on the map we used for planning, and so we were exhausted before we had walked even a third of our planned route.
I feel like Giant Mutant Honey Bun was all a set up for Mike’s comments here.
Worth it.
Giant mutant food in New York City…
Yep, someone call the Ghostbusters again.
Oh good. I was wondering who the couple in a different art style were.
To clarify: couple meaning pair – I have no clue what their relationship to one another is.

You are overlooking the possibility that Mike means as both a clarification AND a mean term of endearment
“now you’re just being mean” YEAH NO SHIT SHERLOCK
This is a good setup and joke ngl.
It seems like webcomic characters making cameo appearances in other webcomics peaked in the mid-late 2000s. I miss that.
“Shnoogins?” Who the fuck talks like that?
Someone being extremely sarcastic?
Fifteen bucks, little man, put that shit, in my hand
If that money doesn’t show then you owe me owe me oh
Oh-we-oh-we-oh, my jungle love…
“Dammit! Can’t we have one semi-normal afternoon?”
“You’d be bored if we did.”
“Yes, but a good boredom!”

Fingers crossed for Frenzyfrenzy as an onomatopoeia in a future strip.
