Can you break up with me for about a day?
on July 19, 2020 at 12:01 amChapter: The Prodigal Son
Characters: David Walkerton, Joyce Brown
Location: Jason's pub, Joyce and Walky's apartment
This song was meant for you
It had a happy ending
But you had to change your mind
I don’t know what happened
Thought that you would never leave
Is a song forever?
Life for you will surely change
Maybe for the better
This comic takes a turn if you pretend that’s somehow a resurrected Anti-Joyce in the last panel.
I wish we had a proper resurrection Anti-Joyce instead of just hat tease in the head alien 2 storyline.
OH
I guess I didn’t think it was a real song, idk
I’m getting flashbacks to my oldest sister’s wedding. First time I’ve seen two people get married after calling off their engagement.
… is… is Joyce slut-shaming herself?
Heavens no! She’s being supportive of her not-fiancĂ©.
I gotta admire panel four Joyce’s commitment to the bit. And it looks like she hasn’t even touched her drink, but just jumped into that mood while sober.

My headcanon is that it’s a root beer, just for extra amusement kick.
Maybe it’s a compromise with Joyce and he “broke up” with an imaginary third party.
What happens next is Walky possibly getting drunk and lonely enough to try to seduce the closest woman that looks anything like his ex fiance…the one next to him might do it.
Well, I’m getting flashbacks to DoA’s current storyline’s title. Coincidence?
Is A Song Forever? is also the title of the original Roomies! epilogue.
Huh, this one looks kind of familiar. So did Thursday’s. I think we might be around the point where I started reading.
Oh, yeah, this one is familiar to me too. I think this was the quintessential “Joyce & Walky domestic hijinks” strip for me.
In which we are reminded that Joyce and Walky have a weird personal life.
If I recall correctly, both Walky and Sal get that sloppy after half a beer. So this is probably 10 minutes in.
