BRZZZAAPP!
on June 30, 2019 at 12:01 amChapter: The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Characters: Alan Rees, Head Alien, Jennifer Billingsworth, Man-In-Black, Robin DeSanto, Sal Walters, The Cheese
Location: Final battle wasteland
Oh, that can’t be good news, Heady.
Narrator: It was at this moment that Head Alien knew…he fucked up.
Head Alien was also thinking “How did Monkey Master know?”
“It’s only fair when I’M in control!”
yup, villains for ya
“No fair!” and “I didn’t mean it!” are also two things bullies say when the tables are turned on them. Another is “Can’t you take a joke?” or some variant of that.
HA always struck me as being a type of bully, so it makes sense he’d go straight to the bully protests. I’m just surprised he didn’t go for the trifecta. Or maybe he did, in the next strip — I honestly don’t remember.
“It was a nice dream. Lasted all of twenty strips…”
And there it is, Head Aliens incompetence and overconfidence was his most literal down fall. The poetic thing about it is that he was brought down by former lackey’s that were more capable then him.
But he was semi-competent. Alan just had a counter.
Heady’s issue was that he gloated too long.
like most villains, he ignored the problem in front of him for the problem he was creating…
“You got me monologuing!”
Ultimately, I’m not even one hundred percent sure it’s that.
I think that for Head Alien, this is the point. If he won, what would he go on to do? It’s not about the destination. It’s about the journey.
Better to die doing what he loves than to win by betraying what passes for principles for him.
HA internal monologue: “Yup, that’s me. You’re probably wondering how I got here.”
Ha!
“At least things can’t get any worse. Oh, wait…”
“It’s Hedley.”
In retrospect it’s a little weird that Alan was revealed to have intangibility built into his suit immediately after Joe and Rachel invented it themselves, and how (unlike with Ultra Car) it’s just accepted as a given that he can do that, no exposition necessary. Like, not jarring weird, just interesting.
…come to think of it, it’s also weird that Alan put his trump card into something that required him to make a suicide attack in the first place, since it feels like a safe bet that BRAZZAAPPing the Cheese was always his endgame plan.
Joe had a chance to examine the Cheese and that was how he developed intangibility. Odds are that Alan worked with him on it. I’d guess that Alan saw the advantages/uses and incorporated the technology in his suit.
Shit that’s right, I forgot! My bad.
Is that Sal with the red glowing eyes in the last panel, or someone else?
It is Sal. Brace for her wrath.
“Burn.”
It’s Sal…the only indication is the shape of her hair. She’s also the only one close to HA and only one brave/dumb to attack him head-on at this point
So, “Brzzzaapp!” is the sound of Alan cutting the cheese?
…I’ll see myself out.
If I’m being honest: Hold the exit door open for me; I’ll be right behind you.
To quote tfs Mr. Popo: “HE DEAD.”
