Argh. Joyce.

Characters: David Walkerton, Jason Chesterfield, Joyce Brown, Linda Walkerton, Penny Worthington, Sal Walters, Steve Walkerton
Location: Professor Doc's lab
This narration by Walky feels very T Campbelly.
i turn 40 today
for my birthday, pledge to my dumbing of age book 8 kickstarter
If it helps, Walky, I hate your mother plenty.
God, she’s fucking awful in both verses, ain’t she?
But oh, yeah, Beef is going to be…difficult to deal with.
I actually kinda think Walky’s mom is slightly less awful in this universe than in DoA, just because the DoA ‘verse is more like what would happen in real life.
It’s a sad and frightening thing that Linda Walkerton might be slightly better in the universe where she commits genocide.
She hits closer to home for a lot of people in DoA.
I’d still call creating an army of child soldiers worse though.
I thought she didn’t commit genocide and was set up?
I still never get the whole Linda is a TRAITOR storyline, but eh.
Does that mean Big Boss was also a mole? He was planned to be killed all along so that Linda could take charge?
Yeah, there’s a lot I don’t get. Like, “Linda colluded with the Head Alien and was secretly our pawn. So therefore, you should join me instead!” That sounds to me like a non sequitur.
Linda is not meant to be a traitor. She’s a half-crazed-with-grief woman who was manipulated physically and mentally and who, believing herself the only person knowing and responsible for the eventual and inevitable demise of the human race by a technologically superior race, made some difficult and, in hindsight, mistaken–but not really– choices involving playing with the lives of others.
If the name Adrian Veidt means something to you, that’s the kind of “villain” Linda is.
What if I already gave you your early birthday pledge *checks* 24 days ago
Likewise.
… for some reason that I cannot fathom, I really want to put a “my dudes” after that.
Awww.
“Who threw that piece of paper at me?”
Seriously, I’m pretty sure that despite Walky’s boisterous claims, Beef squashed someone with a single punch moments ago.
Penny turning away the gun is a nice touch- though I still maintain that her overall plan is poorly thought out.
That someone wasn’t Joyce, though. Apparently that’s the line for Walky becoming the baddest motherfucker in the world.
So Walky’s beat down of Mike because of Dina was just a hint of what he’d do to someone who hurt Joyce?
Hm. Kind of dubious about this avatar now. 😐
Besides the possibility of Walky going all Gohan on his ass, Walky and Billie are the only people there that Beef actually likes.
Poor Beef, I think while Linda’s horrible parenting is the main focus here I feel like (much like in the Dumbiverse!) Walky’s showing himself as part of the problem here too, in his train of thought being “Beef won’t kill Joyce in front of me because it would be dumb” instead of “Beef won’t kill my girlfriend in front of me because he’s still my ‘twin’ brother and loves me.”
See I was busy reading this as “Walky here being one of the only people who doesn’t assume Beef is a moron” and didn’t think of that.
Toooo be a little fair to Walky here, Beef did just murder a lady a few minutes ago. I think that it’s pretty fair to interpret him as an enemy and not count on personal feelings getting in his way.
I love how bored Penny looks.
Happy Birthday!
It doesn’t feel like a birthday gift if I give you money and you give me magnets!
The magnets cone on YOUR birthday!
(1/365.25 chance of happening)
I’m assuming that’s Jason who’s trying to sneak up on Penny with the gun? Might have been better if he’d remembered that guns are ranged weapons and just shot her from a distance.
