Yep, we’re gonna see Walky be regenerated by Martian technology month-by-month. Those clusters in the tube are the beginnings of his brain and heart.
Not a lot happening this entry. We’re probably reinforcing the idea of the long slog of time.
odd that they aren’t joined, but It’s Walky! I guess
my theory: they are floating in a liquid solution that is growing them cell by cell so don’t need to be joined together because the fluid is giving them nutrients and electrical energy needed to grow…
Ah a Gameboy, how far we’ve come.
and the sad part? Gameboy Advance was already obsolete because the Nintendo DS came out three weeks after this strip appeared!
Joyce should at least have an Advance SP. 😛
The original GBA is more comfortable to hold. Too bad you needed a personal sun to see the screen. Even the first version of the SP, with its weird, milky frontlight was better.
Luckily, in the last few years the modding community figured out how to retrofit the nice backlit LCD from the second version of the SP into the original GBA.
Or you can just play GBA cartridges on a DS Lite or run custom firmware on a DSi.
I still have both the GBA and SP, and always preferred to hold the SP over the original Advance.
For the DS, I’d rather use the original model. It’s not as bright, but at least the GBA cartridges don’t stick halfway out of the slot.
I’m wondering if Joyce is catching up on Pokemon. Probably Emerald or Fire Red/Leaf Green…
I always found the SP too cramped to play for more than a few minutes. Even the regular DS Lite and DSi are a bit small for my liking. The DSi XL and New 3DS XL are good, but my favorite handeld console design is still the original “fat” PSP.
Waiting to see how that new handheld-only Switch feels… That New 3DS XL got me hooked on Mario Kart, and it also has the new remake of Crash Team Racing that I hope gets ported to PC someday. (I got the original CTR when it came out, and it’s still my all-time favorite kart racer.)
fortunately it’s still fun, and there was a huge catalogue of games she could try.
I wasn’t around for the first time. Really enjoying this coda.
I guess Joyce doesn’t have anything else to do while waiting for Walky to be regenerated.
Mario has to save Princess Peach from Bowser so they can all go go-karting together.
But first Peach ahs to make a cake for all of them.

If she’s going to be living in here for seven months, someone please buy this poor girl a sofa, or a beanbag chair, or SOMETHING other than a concrete government facility floor.
