Yeah, working in black-and-white again. Y’know, trying to fit in with the style from back then as much as possible, even if I don’t really draw exactly like that anymore. And so here I’m thinking, aw man, I love putting folks in the immediate foreground in shadow but… but…
aw geez i have to crosshatch
STUPID CROSSHATCHING
i was never good at crosshatching
…Cause I sure won’t forgive you!
Also, Mike can really sell the angry zombie look.
He’s not even under mind control. He just wants an excuse to kick some ass.
As if Mike needs excuses to kick ass.
It looks pretty good, honestly.
And nice job granting this moment the emotion it lacked in the original.
…jeez, the McHenrys go through a lot of shit, don’t they.
Yeah, I was going to say the same thing (that the cross-hashing looks quite good). I also agree about the McHenrys, but I think that nearly goes without saying (particularly considering what’s coming).
Seriously they do.
I can hear your younger self laughing.
He wishes to torture your hand.
More, he says.
More cross hatching.
Draw until your hand falls off!
Cross-hatching is just drawing straight lines, tho! It just looks “bad” because maybe the lines are slightly not perfectly parallel or something.
Not that your lines look bad! In fact, they look awesome! =D
ELITE SEMME AGENTS ARE GOOOOO.
HEEEAAAAAALLLLLP
Wait a second I might have this backwards
There is no crosshatching in this strip!
(CROSShatching = two different directions, crossed lines, X. What you’re doing there – parallel[ish] lines, / – is “hatching”.)
You might want to take a second look at the first panel.
He did say he wasn’t very good at cross-hatching.
(Though the hatching and cross-hatching there both look perfectly fine to me).
Tony punching his dad is not nearly as satisfying as when Amber punched hers.
Maybe because Anthony McHenry Sr. isn’t a cancerous growth upon the human race?
Also because Tony is only punching his dad because he’s under mind control. Amber’s punched caused some serious problems for her mentally, but it was at least a punch that she decided to do and merited doing. Because again, cancerous growth upon the human race.
I… don’t see why a good guy forced to punch a good guy would be satisfying at ALL. Amber was punching out someone who deserved it, family ties be damned. Not sure what Big Boss did that’d even remotely be considered evil. [I do have a short memory compared to IW!’s MASSIVE archive, tho]
It’s more that that was the DoA reference Willis was referring to on twitter (and as far as I could tell nobody had picked up on it yet)
(also, in retrospect, my choice of words was terrible. My apologies)
That’s…. dark….
Given that Tony is an enhanced super-soldier and you are not . . . I concur that you can’t fight him.
That cross-hatching on the first panel is honestly really nicely done, and it’s really neat seeing it with something closer to your modern art style.
