Not all SEMME staff are abductees. Jason isn’t, for example.
It’s just that abductees have superpowers that generally happen to make them ideal for combat, and SEMME needs to get them away from the public eye to prevent alien rumors from spreading, so they have abductees comprise most of their combat squads to solve both problems at once.
Because his brother, Beef, is an abductee. That was a plot point early in It’s Walky, which we’ll be getting to soon. Beef was initially set up as the big deal important child and Walky was just a hanger on. Then Walky got outed as an abductee and Beef basically disappears from the strip for years at a time.
Their romance began years earlier when they were kids aboard the alien ship and Walky was running around it showing stuff to Joyce.
Also, can I just say that the comments section here is such a safe haven compared to the rancor of idiotic arguments that happen in all of Willis’ other comics? I like this place.
The most clever password I’ve ever read about was ten seconds of silence. If SEMME’s security password is silence, you get a win-win situation: either Walky can’t come in to annoy you, or he has to shut up for a few seconds.
Straight man? So it was Walky’s fault for the Canada incident? ;p
What DOES S.E.M.M.E. stand for?

Society Enabling Mike’s Mom Enjoyment.
It started as a nickel fundraising charity, but somehow snowballed into the alien thing.

Supreme Entities Mashing Martian Enemies.
Secret Earthling Martian Menace Eliminators
They stand for fighting against alien threats and the great Martian terror!
Super Electric Martian Mutilating Experts? They also stand for Truth, Justice and the Earth way but much less so.

Secret Extraterestial Menace Mismanagement Foundation.
“It means someone really wanted our name to spell out ‘SHIELD’.”
Society for the Expurgation of Meanie Martians from Earth.
Always wondered if putting him in the lab to help was exactly safer than putting him in the field.
They don’t know he’s an abductee yet. Well, his mom and Head Alien knows, but the group doesn’t know yet.
What do you mean they don’t know? So why is he here in the first place?

Thus began their romance.

Psst! Walky! The password is “Cronuts,” which was stricly a nonsense word at the time..
The most clever password I’ve ever read about was ten seconds of silence. If SEMME’s security password is silence, you get a win-win situation: either Walky can’t come in to annoy you, or he has to shut up for a few seconds.
The password in Earthbound is three minutes of silence. Three minutes never felt so long.
they’re gonna be secret ops agents, they may get started on the basics for once
He’s equivilent to a trianed monkey…
