… so, for those who have been vaguely following my comments about my Its Walky Mutants and Masterminds game.
You know what’s currently going on over at Dumbing of Age with Ruth and Billie? Well, I couldn’t bring myself to kill off Ruth in my game, even in backstory, so I didn’t. Instead of Truck, Ruth got her DoA backstory and (after something fairly similar to what is currently happening at DoA) she ended up with Billie… which became relevant when Joyce eventually reconnected with her college friends and Ruth/Billie were a couple. By the end of the game, they were Joyce’s best friends. Ruth and Joyce were each the maid of honor at the other’s weddings.
I would have posted this over at DoA, but I was afraid that a majority of people would just be confused as to what I was talking about.
Oh, and a M&M game antidote related to this comic: I recreated this scene almost exactly, with characters making checks to grab one another’s hands and Joyce leveling them out for a gentle water landing (there was some inspiration from Iron Man as well). It ended up being one of the most memorable scenes in the early game. And yes, I made sure to include Jason’s tasteless joke from – tomorrow’s? – comic.
The on-the-fly calculations required to keep it airborne and effective make it too hard to use for anyone else, I think the explanation goes. Remember how Joyce’s introduction pointed out she was really good at math?
OK, I’ve read that explanation from fans (twice), but not in-comic as far as I remember. And I don’t think the math thing has been mentioned since Joyce’s first or second Roomies! strip.
If you’re waiting for important information to be mentioned in comic you’ll be waiting a looooong time for a lot of things. A lot of stuff was confirmed in comics (Dina’s abductee power for example, which is never even hinted at in the comic).
Joyce can use the jetpack because she has awesome math skills, endof story.
It does come up as an explanation in-comic… during the Joyce and Walky finale arc, and LATE in it at that, as an explanation for another character’s unrelated abilities.
I thought the Seventh Circle of Hell was the one with all the boiling blood for sinners of Wrath, not the one with all the Joyces and Walkies for straight men.
Great, after over a month of being glued to my laptop every evening after work to read all of Dumbing of Age, Shortpacked, Roomies, and It’s Walky……now what am I supposed to do with myself? I’ve forgotten what normal people do with their time. Damn you David Willis!
Yeah, seriously–even after I’ve already checked at midnight, here I am checking again at almost SIX IN THE MORNING because I ALREADY FORGOT there won’t even be new comments
Only a true Brit can be that unimpressed with gravity.
which is funny since he’s not a tru– wait
He’s a true Brit, just not to our Britain.
Which Britain is it then?
GREAT Britain, old chap
Jason technically is a British illegal immigrant… from Britain.
No, worse. He’s not a true Brit because it was our Britain.
The panels ARE super nice, Willis.
I like the one in the background that didn’t manage to hold any art in.
“Hopefully this doesn’t just rip your arms off as you continue your decent to the earth”
Weren’t there, uh… four of them? Is Alan in a whole bunch of pieces?
On the other hand, I greatly appreciate the ability of these guys to keep cracking jokes in the midst of falling to their possible deaths.
now thinking of Alan and oodles of remote-contolled bodies a la Cait Sith
contRolled daggammit
*is “detail-oriented” in as far as seeing errors AFTER hitting post*

And again I wonder why only Joyce gets a jetpack.
Because she’s the only one who can actually use it properly.
The on-the-fly calculations required to keep it airborne and effective make it too hard to use for anyone else, I think the explanation goes. Remember how Joyce’s introduction pointed out she was really good at math?
I wonder how often she needs to pull out that comically huge calculator

comments, confirmed in comments.

Yes, where DID Alan go?
Emergency teleport
You know, if Jason was also superpowered this page would have made great forshadowing.
I thought the Seventh Circle of Hell was the one with all the boiling blood for sinners of Wrath, not the one with all the Joyces and Walkies for straight men.
it really conveys a falling effect.

FUCK
Ehm, Joyce & Walky? Or the list on the right side 😉
Chapter title is missing in the strip info.
This is worth at least a Quarter of an Eisner.
Also, can I just have a comic of Jason and Walky interacting all the time?
