Dang, kind of strikes a contrast with Joyce earlier, who was actually pretty okay with beating the shit out of her future kids, huh
Not an intentional contrast. Just something I thought of just now.
Anyway, daaaaang, me. Who hurt me that I would write this?
Does that mean Joyce doesn’t actually have a heart but Sal does?
Or is it just one sacrificed themself to save Sal, and maybe Joyce would be less homicidal if one of hers did the same?
DJ wasn’t in the process of trying to kill Sal…
Maybe Sal got DJ’s heart.
I think another important difference is that Joyce fought Joyce/NotWalky (i.e. not the love of her life) kids, while DJ was a Sal/Danny (i.e. the love of her life) kid.
ah, @RassilonTDavros said the same below
“this is my MURDER FACE!”
I think the fact that he was specifically not just Sal’s kid but Danny’s, a.k.a. the guy Sal spent years idolizing but lost in the end, meaning that he will never exist in the main timeline, is probably playing a large role in her anger. Joyce never had a thing for Jason, really.
Meaning that yes, this is indeed “danny is great, part 3933.”
Oops, forgot the obligatory “I just watched my son from an alternate future die” clip.
Well. RIP Deej.
Potentially also RIP HAII.
this was not meant to be a reply
The latter “RIP” being not just an acronym, but an onomatopoeia.
Agreed. DJ represented a future Sal would actually want, Joyce/Jason Kid didn’t. Also, Joyce is in a happy, stable romantic relationship, whereas immediately before encountering DJ who proceeded to sacrifice his life for her, Sal had her disastrous proposal to Jason.
Seriously, DANG. Couldn’t get more messed up if HAII had actively planned it that way.
With this Sal’s status has gone from severely tortured soul to absolute tortured soul.
I only wish we had gotten a flashback to see all that instead of HA.2 exposition it all. It just sounded like a script for a great scene.
HAII absolutely cannot resist the urge to monologue, can he?
He’s basically a fanfiction author who can make his prose canon, and he revels in it.
The ultimate fanfic. Net user
I read a lot of comments about how Willis’ characters are part autobiographical and always wondered which part of the Head Aliens is related to the author’s personal experience.
You could make the case that Head Alien is a sort of twisted representation of the Writer, creating the characters and then making their lives miserable and deriving entertainment from that. That’d be my best guess
I just figured you wrote it because you have a twisted mind. The kind of twisted that keeps us coming back day after day.
