I swear his name IS Walky, mother.

Location: Joyce's parents' house
This one’s based on real life. To this day, I have some friends who refuse to call me anything but Walky. “David” just sounds wrong to them. IRC nicknames really, really stick, sometimes.
It’s Sticky!, a comic about nicknames….
For once I agree with Joyce’s mom on something.
Nicknames stick so hard. More people have stopped referring to me by name altogether than have started using my preferred name, rather than the childhood nickname that I actively object to…

tbh, you seem like much more of a “Dammit, Willis!” to me.
It’s Dammit M. Willis!
My husband has a first name, that his friends use. A middle name, that his family uses. An online avatar first name, that he uses at conventions. And an online avatar last name, that he uses in games. Yes, it gets confusing.
For my part I am teflon when it comes to nicknames. They never ever stick.
So… do you call him by his middle name?
I was about to call you “Shivvy”, but that sounds a little too dangerous for a nickname
I have a nickname that I’ve used since I was 8 days old, based on my middle name. I self-identify with it more than I ever have my first name.
The singer Dido was nicknamed as such since she was 4 or even earlier, and that became her name.
