I’ll be honest, this one always confused me. I mean, I figure a commemorative plate is just what it sounds like, right? It’s a plate, and at the bottom of it is I presume a portrait of Kirk or Picard or whoever. How would simply punching him result in damaging it?
Yeah, but I’m puzzled why Howard is worried that she’ll scuff it. If she punched Danny into a shelf and the plate fell down, isn’t it more likely to be broken than scuffed?
I distinctly remember that later in the strip Danny mentioned them agreeing to take things slowly, and I *literally* re-read every strip from the previous year up to there wondering when I had missed that.
I love that Howard is so blase about Ruth being violent. Like, he’s typically portrayed as restrained and shy or whatever, but when it comes to his sister he’s just like “yeah, sure, whatever, beat some dudes up”. It’s totally been normalized for him.

If the plate is on the wall by the door, behind Danny, and Ruth punches him into the wall, he might hit it.
Commemorative plates are hand-painted fragile porcelain collectibles.
Well, yes, but unless Danny decided to pick one up to defend himself with, I’m not sure why Ruth punching him might damage it.
Personally, I’ve found they tend to be precariously displayed.

Wow…Howard’s kind of a prick.
And thus a mentorship for the ages was born!
For some reason, Last Panel Danny was always my favourite shot in the early comics =D
Really? I’m quite irked by the way his eyes have appeared to drifted across his face.
He’s looking behind him and considering flight. But you’re right, they’ve drifted a little too far.
His right eye is waaaaaaay too far to the left of his nose.
I’ll be honest here:
I shipped Ruth/Danny longer then I am proud of.
When I first read, after every strip I’d be like “so why aren’t they kissing yet?”
I distinctly remember that later in the strip Danny mentioned them agreeing to take things slowly, and I *literally* re-read every strip from the previous year up to there wondering when I had missed that.
Unless you were still shipping them after Ruth died I don’t think that’s a problem.
Ruth is 70% punching, 5% kicking, 25% nihilism, and 100% awesome.
I think there’s at least a couple percent of “mackin’ on Billie” in there.
Or, wait, is that the “100% awesome” part?
Yes.
Howard, you jerk. You’re lucky nothing but misfortune happens to you over the course of this series or I’d have half a mind to dislike you.

And by ‘hit him’ you mean ‘tap that ass’ right?
Ruth x Danny x Star Trek Plate OTT
I don’t remember from the last time I read these, but hopefully the next couple strips are nothing but Ruth beating on Danny like he was a speedbag.
Speedbag totally sounds like drugs. Or a British insult. Or a really gross sexual act.
But mostly drugs.
Very ’90s Britain. All the bad kids were doing douche and calling people “speedbag.”
See, I know Ruth’s in the wrong but I totally wanna see her smack Danny around a bit. Does that make me a bad person?
No. I personally would have liked a whole week of strips involving Danny just getting hit by random objects.
Seconded.
70% punching, 5% kicking, 25% nihilism, but the same great taste!
I thought she was more interested in punching people that earned it. My mistake.
